It's amazing how quickly chaos can happen when a kitchen is out of use.
Home life is crazy right now but I am thankful for the major progress that Dustin is making. He is working hard as usual for me, so that it's back to the state of peace and order it once was. So my job is to be content and go with the flow. The last thing I want to be is another weight on his shoulders. And even though chaos is all around me, I feel very at ease...at least for the past couple weeks. I dunno, maybe I'm due for a freak out moment soon. But anyway, all credit goes to the Lord for helping me to have a peaceful heart right now. And isn't that what's more important? Having a clean heart rather than a perfectly clean home? 'Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10'

Anyway, I thought I'd give you a little tour of our downstairs right now.
Maybe help you ladies out there feel better about your own homes!


Here is me trying to get dinner ready in my living room.

My table has now become my food pantry.



We have no kitchen sink or counter top right now, so our laundry room is now
our multipurpose room. Thankfully we have a sink in our wash room... however, you can see space is very limited.


Here is our microwave making friends with our washer and dryer.



The rest of my kitchen lies over in my living room...




It's always gotta get worse before it gets better right? ....right?!

Kitchen Update

I've been slacking majorly with posting progress pictures. I believe the last project I posted was about the stairs. We are still enjoying them immensely! Now we are officially onto the last room of the house, the kitchen! Kitchens can be so expensive. My husband should know, he installs high-end kitchens every day. Instead of spending all our money on one room, we've decided to keep the existing cabinets since they are pretty durable. A little paint, and new counter-top, updated hardware, and a new floor will give it the face lift it needs without breaking the bank. Below is what the kitchen looked like when we moved in 2.5 years ago.



This is the state that it's in now.

You were expecting something prettier? Sorry... It really doesn't look much different from when we moved in... except that the doors are now off. All food is sitting on the dining room table and all cookware, utensils, bowls.. you name it are sitting in my living room. Ahh, once again I'm practicing the art of being content with a disorganized, dusty home. Some days I come home from work, see my kitchen looking like this and it's pretty much the end of the world. Tools everywhere, dust where I just cleaned two days ago, nothing in the right place, going from room to room, figuring out where everything is so I can make a measly little dinner. Others days I could care less about the dirt and the disorder because frankly I just don't have the energy to want to clean. I'd rather be in a good mood for my husband instead of forcing myself to clean when I have zero energy, causing the monster in me to appear. No wonder we serve a God that is all about order. Things are so much better that way! All I have to say is thank goodness for frozen pizzas! ...and a patient husband.


Well so far the drywall is done, the walls and trim are painted and ready to go.
Now we're starting to sand down the cabinets and doors to prepare it for paint.




Dustin also recently installed a pantry cabinet and extra storage space that we didn't have before. Oh the things we take for granted. I cannot WAIT to put my food in a pantry closet!!
