A Weekend Away

This past weekend was my annual getaway trip with two of my very good friends.
Agenda? Eat, sleep and talk. It was wonderful!

Can't get enough!

Our favorite past times, discussing magazines and watching chick flicks as well as
our traditional 4 mile walk...

I am very thankful for these women!

Spare Bedroom

Recently we've been working on three rooms upstairs. That's right, 4 out of the 5 rooms are complete downstairs. And now that we have moved upstairs, we both are really excited about how fast things are coming together since spring and summer progress was slower than we had hoped.

Below is what one of the rooms looked like when we first moved in. Swirly gray walls, a plywood floor, and unfinished drywall with a green, toothpaste colored window. Pretty rough.

Since then we've added new windows, fixed a leak in the ceiling, re-patched the roof and replaced the floor due to the water damage from the leak....

We tore down a wall to add closet space, built the wall back up, finished the drywall with the help of our Uncle Lloyd, painted the walls and ceilings and added trim.

It's not finished yet but the transformation so far as been pretty wild.
Thought it would be fun to share since I haven't posted much about the house lately.

To be continued...

The Rainbow Conncection

"This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations." Genesis 9:12  After the flood, Noah received a message of hope that God would build a new world because of Noah’s faithfulness. God sealed his promise with a rainbow. "Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant." Genesis 9:16

A week ago, we were greeted by a beautiful rainbow on a rainy drive. This video does not do the rainbow justice but I think it was the biggest and most vivid one I've seen in person. I couldn't get enough of it. And that is why my husband found me hanging out the window of our car trying to get a video of it. You never know when you'll need your camera! Seeing this rainbow gave me hope for that day...and maybe that's why I couldn't get enough of it. Right in front of my face, I was looking at a beautiful symbol of real hope! Something I needed. God never promises that our lives won’t be filled with storms, and heartache but what the scriptures do promise is that Christ will be a redeeming force in the midst of our storms and that he’ll always be present with us. For someone who would be an absolute mess without knowing that, I am so thankful for that comfort.

Life Lessons

When you're rolling along and life hurts you along the way, say "ouch", then laugh and keep on rolling. :)
