Finished Kitchen

What?! The kitchen is finished!? The last room of the house is done?!
Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh!!!!!

Once again, It's amazing what paint can do.
These are the same 50 year old cabinets in the 'before' picture. Still sturdy and in perfectly good shape.
All we needed was some paint, some updating and voila! A new kitchen for half the price.


Progression of Kitchen

Dishwasher.
Where have you been all my life!?!
I almost forgot what a dishwasher was until we finally installed one.
2 1/2 years isn't really that long without one but my wrinkly dish hands are
glad to have a break.



This was probably one of the most chaotic projects to do but God has allowed us once again to finish strong without finishing each other. The physical transformation of each room has opened our eyes to new spiritual transformations in our own lives. Do you want a challenge? Buy a dump with your spouse and fix it up... and see what amazing things will happen if you let the Lord do it.
Yes, we are proud of what we've accomplished in the house but we are more proud that we have accomplished it as a team. And that is worth more to me than the value of any house. Once again, a big shout out to the husband for bringing life to another room and inspiring me to work harder, to be better... and to have more dance parties in the kitchen!

Sneak Peek of Kitchen...

The barricaded kitchen taped with plastic has officially come down...
the beaten, ugly stained, linoleum floor that once was has been put to rest, cabinet doors are starting to be hung and the fridge has reopened for business! In another week or so, kitchen items/food will be introduced to their new home!!!!!

James 4:14

My sunday school class has recently started reading the book Crazy Love.

What a challenge this has brought to our class already. Great discussion. The idea of the book is that as Christians, knowing that the Creator of this universe is in love with us, and has shown this crazy act of love for us, there ought to be a response that takes place in believers... a crazy reaction to that love. Which makes me ask, do we really grasp what God has done for us? Is this a new concept? No. But it's important that we challenge ourselves, renew our minds and spirits of why we are really here.. and act on it.

James 4:14 stood out to me when reading - "yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes."

It puts everything in perspective when I think of myself as a mist here on Earth. My life is valuable yes, but it's short and....misty. Too often I am consumed with my little world and miss the big picture. My life is not my own story. I'm just a little part that's entwined in God's grand story. He's the main character, not me. Not to say that the things we go through and the different circumstances in our lives are not of value. God uses them for His purposes and His glory. And His story for you is uniquely designed just for you. So to think of all my personal worries, fears, and stresses that can consume me...what good is it? And why is it so hard to let them go? Control issues? But God is sovereign right? He has it under control. And the best part is, it's for our good right? Can you imagine if God was in control but wasn't a good God or didn't have our best interest at heart? Eeeek! That would give you something to worry about! The book states that worry and stress reek of arrogance.

“Basically, these two behaviors communicate that it’s okay to sin and not trust God because the stuff in my life is somehow exceptional."

None of them bring any eternal value. I want my focus to be on eternity and how God will use me each day knowing that all this stuff on earth, all it is is an investment for the future. Am i living in such a way that i really believe my life here on earth is just a vapor?

Paint, Paint... And More Paint

A little sneak peek of the kitchen!




We are on the last coat of paint for the cabinets! That means we can tear down all the taped walls, and start installing the floors. And that means putting the kitchen back in order. Woo hoooo!




Meanwhile,
I've also been spending time outside enjoying
new life bursting forth from the ground while trying to give it some curb appeal.
Still have a ways to go.

p.s. - I hate weeds.



We're also
working on the upstairs bathroom. When we first moved it, we gave it a quick makeover and now we're finishing up the odds and ends. We also installed new flooring because it needed it badly. Straight down the middle our floor was half wood, half linoleum. We're still baffled as to how one comes to the conclusion of having two different floors in one room. This isn't the greatest picture but below you can see towards the bottom, left the two different floors.



The trim is painted, the floor is done. Once the rest of the
odds and ends are done, I'll show the finished product.
