The Fulton is alive with the sound of.. The Sound of Music!
Ok, that was lame. It's Monday. I'm not creative with my words today. Anyway, just the other night we had the opportunity to check out the Fulton Opera House's performance of The Sound of Music. We recommend going to see it if you can. They did an amazing job! Going to see the show took me back to my childhood of how much I wanted to be like Julie Andrews. And the shocking revelation that she was not a natural burnett! (Mary poppins was the first movie I saw her in)
FAKE HAIR!
We had a great time thanks to our good friends the Placencia's who invited us along!!! This couple can make friends with anybody. Just give them 5 minutes of their hilarious banter and you'll be hooked. You'll never walk away from their home without a cup of coffee, a laugh and an "Aww hugs!" from Sarah. They have a gift of making people feel like family the second you meet them and we have been fortunate enough to do so. Thank you so much for the gift! You guys are the best!

I was going through some photos the other day trying to organize, when I saw this 'old' picture of our Christmas scene two years ago. This room is on the second floor. It's kind of an open area as you walk up the stairs. This room was our sanctuary...our only 'living' area at the time. All the other rooms were under construction. So it not only served as a living room, but also as a laundry room, eating room and office. Thankfully it did not serve as a bathroom. :/
I laugh to think that we actually invited guests over to hang out in this one room. But I believe it's not what your house looks like that attracts people to it, it's the people inside and the God that dwells in it that attracts people. The size of the picture is pretty much the size of the room. It was cramped yes, but we made the most of it. This makes me think of our trip to Haiti. The structures we built on our missions trip were one room tin houses and two room houses made from cinder block. And that was an upgrade to what they were living in before. So thinking back, to two years ago when we had to endure this one room, makes me see how good we had it.

(Downstairs in the actual living room)I look at our Christmas scene today and I think about how tired I am...ha. ...And of course how very thankful I am that the Lord brought us this far. And a little baffled at how we didn't kill each other with all the work and stress that comes along with remodeling a house. It's simple. "The Lord is good, a strength and stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows those who take refuge and trust in Him." Nahum 1:7 This could have been something that destroyed our marriage with each room we tackled. Instead, with much prayer and guidance from the Lord as well as grace for each other, and reminding ourselves that my husband/wife is for me not against me, it's made the marriage a force to be reckoned with. And that my friends is so worth all the hard work.

There is nothing better than going out with your girlfriends, laughing it up, while sharing the prettiest and most delicious cheesecake dessert. ...That thing was gone in a minute flat.
I recently celebrated the birthday of a very close friend of mine. Her sensitive spirit, her love for the simple things, cheesy Hallmark movies and that charismatic laugh of hers certainly makes her one of a kind. Her deep love for her God, despite hard circumstance in her life has inspired me tremendously. We live in a world where friendship and commitment no longer mean much. I am often reminded of my two rare blessings, one of them being her. Friendships that I know will last forever. So as I celebrate her life, I celebrate the blessing of good FAITHFUL friends! Happy Birthday Lys!

If you've never been to the town of West Chester, you should go. Especially at Christmas time. Not only is this cozy town full of character with it's unique brick buildings and old fashioned street lights, but every shop and restaurant is decorated for the holidays. It's a town full of the Christmas spirit! And I love it!

Along with our friends, we stopped at Side Bar & Restaurant for dinner and was taken to the top level of the restaurant. To our surprise, we had the whole room to ourselves. The room was filled with large windows decorated in twinkle lights, unique art canvas' on the walls and old Christmas music playing in the background. It was a cozy atmosphere with a great night of conversation and laughs.
Afterwards, we bundled up and headed out to our destination,
Longwood Gardens! It was beautiful... and so cold!

Apparently they string half a million lights around the grounds with over 39 miles of cord. Wow. That's a lot of lights.

After a busy, but fun weekend I am not liking that it's Monday already...
